Note from the Applicant:
315 14th Avenue SE requires a Certificate of Appropriateness to replace non historic doors in openings on the southeast and west sides of the building. The openings are in a portion of the building constructed after the period of significance. The work is part of the rehabilitation to accommodate the new University of Minnesota Department of Public Safety Resource Center.
The existing openings are on the first floor of the building. They were created in a 2003 remodeling prior to the establishment of the Dinkytown Commercial Historic District. The openings are infilled with
wood French doors installed during that remodeling. The doors are in poor condition, and do not provide the security required for the new use. The doors are located 6-8 foot above grade. The openings will be infilled with aluminum storefront.
Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the application.
