Join MnDOT historian Katie Haun Schuring and our project team for a conversation spanning the history of the Third Ave. Bridge. Learn about early 20th century Minneapolis, the bridge design, interesting features and construction methods used during this time.
This free virtual presentation will be on Mon, Dec. 7 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. An interactive question-and-answer session will take place after the presentation. For those of you who joined the first presentation in September, we will be covering the same content.

More about this project
The historic Third Ave. Bridge over the Mississippi River near St. Anthony Falls opened in 1918. It is in need of significant repairs. The bridge carries Third and Central avenues, which are part of Hwy 65.
Construction began in May 2020 and is anticipated to be complete in August 2023. There will be a full closure of the bridge from January 2021 through November 2022. Motorists, transit riders, and people walking and bicycling will need to use alternative routes across the river during this time. Dates and details will be provided closer to the bridge closure.
